Step one: identify the Maserati and confirm availability
The first step is identifying the specific Maserati and confirming it exists in the specification you want. For current Maserati S.p.A. production, that means the MC20 and MC20 Cielo built at the Viale Ciro Menotti plant in Modena, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio built at Mirafiori in Turin, and the Grecale built at Cassino, each ordered through the Maserati dealer network in the United Kingdom.
For the used side of the market, the picture changed in 2024 when both the Levante and the sixth-generation Quattroporte finished production. Those two now trade entirely as used cars through Maserati approved-used programmes and independent specialists, alongside earlier Ghibli, GranTurismo, and GranCabrio stock. Because we work the practical effect on these cars is that we finance well-specified V6 and V8 examples with documented history rather than the cheapest cars in the classifieds.

Step two: choose the right finance product for the Maserati
| Structure | Monthly cost | Balloon | Position at the end | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hire Purchase | Highest | None | Outright ownership at the end | Used Levante and Quattroporte, where the depreciation has already happened |
| Lease Purchase | Lower | Agreed sum deferred to the end of the term | Yours once the balloon is settled | The MC20, where limited production and the Nettuno V6 support a firm balloon |
| Personal Contract Purchase | Lower | Guaranteed Minimum Future Value fixed at the outset | Settle the GMFV, part-exchange, or hand the car back | The Grecale and the current GranTurismo |
| Equity Release | Set by the sum released | Structured per deal | You already own the car | An MC12, an early Ghibli or Bora, or a low-mileage MC20 |
Maserati is a range where Personal Contract Purchase earns its place: on volume cars such as the Grecale and current GranTurismo there is enough comparable data for a lender to fix a Guaranteed Minimum Future Value and carry the residual risk itself, which is worth more than the headline monthly saving.
Maserati finance is most commonly structured as one of four credit agreements: Hire Purchase, Lease Purchase, Personal Contract Purchase, or Equity Release against a Maserati the buyer already owns.
Hire Purchase is the cleanest structure where you want outright ownership at the end and no deferred lump sum. It suits company directors capitalising a GranTurismo or Grecale through a limited company, and it is our usual recommendation on used Levante and Quattroporte, because a fully amortising agreement removes the residual argument on cars whose depreciation has already largely happened.
Lease Purchase defers an agreed amount to a final balloon and is the dominant structure on the MC20, where limited production, a carbon-fibre monocoque, and the in-house Nettuno V6 support a balloon a lender will underwrite with confidence. Personal Contract Purchase moves that residual risk onto the lender through a Guaranteed Minimum Future Value, which suits the Grecale and the current GranTurismo. Equity Release is the refinancing route on an MC12, an early Ghibli or Bora, or a low-mileage MC20 where the asset has held clear of the original invoice.
Step three: Maserati Financial Services against a specialist credit broker
Maserati Financial Services is the manufacturer's captive finance offering, provided in the United Kingdom through the Stellantis financial services arm and sold alongside the dealer on current model-year cars. It is a competent product for a straightforward new MC20, GranTurismo, or Grecale where the buyer wants everything handled in one place at the point of order.
On deals involving a used Levante or Quattroporte, a high-specification MC20 Cielo, an MC12, or any classic Maserati, the specialist commercial broker route usually produces a sharper structure. The reason is straightforward: we are not tied to one residual model or one lender's appetite, so we can place a car with a lender that will actually assess the asset in front of it rather than apply a table built for current showroom stock.
Step four: the application and underwriting process
The application runs through us as credit broker. We collect a short summary of the buyer and their commercial position, the deal itself (dealer or specialist invoice, deposit, term, and structure), and the vehicle (specification, mileage where used, service history, and warranty position).
The commercial lender then underwrites against the asset, the buyer, and the deal structure. Decisioning on a current MC20, GranTurismo, or Grecale is typically a matter of days. On a used Levante or Quattroporte, the service history and warranty position do most of the work in the file, so gathering that paperwork before submission is the single most useful thing a buyer can do. Once terms are issued and the agreement signed, funds go direct to the dealer or specialist at handover.

Common mistakes when financing a Maserati
Three mistakes recur on Maserati deals. The first is treating the range as one asset class. An MC20 and a five-year-old Levante behave nothing alike in the used market, and a structure that works on one is usually wrong on the other. Buyers who ask for a large balloon on a used Levante because a friend got one on an MC20 are asking the lender to carry a risk it will simply price back into the rate.
The second is submitting without the service file. On used Maserati stock the documented history and the warranty position carry more weight in the underwriting than any general argument about the marque's reputation, and a car with a complete file will place at a better rate than an identical car without one.
The third is assuming an option list survives into the residual. A heavily optioned GranTurismo or Grecale can carry £15,000 or more of specification that the used market only partly repays, so the balloon should be set against the realistic resale figure rather than the invoice total.

Frequently asked questions
- Do Maserati models depreciate too heavily to finance sensibly?
- No, but the structure has to match the curve. The volume Maserati product, particularly the Ghibli and entry Levante, has historically given up value faster than equivalent German cars, which is why we favour Hire Purchase on those and avoid large deferred balloons. The MC20 sits at the other end: limited production and an in-house engine keep it firm enough to support a substantial Lease Purchase balloon.
- Can I finance a Levante or Quattroporte now that both are out of production?
- Yes. Both finished in 2024 and now trade as used cars, which we finance through the same lender panel. Out-of-production status is not a barrier; it simply means the lender is pricing an established used market rather than forecasting a new one, which often makes the decision more straightforward rather than less.
- Is the Nettuno engine in the MC20 a Ferrari unit?
- No. The Nettuno V6 is designed and built by Maserati in Modena and is the first engine the marque has produced in-house for around two decades. Earlier Maserati V6 and V8 units, including the engines in the Quattroporte, Ghibli, and Levante, were built by Ferrari at Maranello, which is where the assumption comes from.
- What is the minimum deal size you will arrange on a Maserati?
- There is no minimum. On the lower-priced used cars in the range condition is the practical constraint rather than lender appetite. We do not arrange regulated consumer credit at any value.
